Where and when
We meet on Tuesday evenings, 7-9pm in the community room on the 3rd floor of An Lanntair, Stornoway.
What we do
Most meetings we do some or all of the following:
- discuss a published piece of work
- read work that we've written in advance for the meeting
- do a 10 minute free-write or other writing exercise
- workshop a piece written by a member of the group
We take turns to lead the meeting, and to provide a piece of writing for the group to workshop (see the schedule below).
Occasionally we have evenings run by guest speakers or tutors instead.
There is a voluntary donation of £2 per meeting.

If you are providing a discussion piece, you should:
- Circulate a study piece (prose or poetry) to the group several days in advance of the session, or provide a link to the piece on the internet.
If you are providing a workshopping piece, you should:
- Circulate your own writing (prose or poetry) to the group several days in advance of the session, in a format that everyone can read (Word or pdf should be okay).
If your name isn't in either column, you should:
- Volunteer! You can lead a session or provide some of your own writing to be workshopped by the group. Go on - it'll be fun!
